How to Measure

Blinds

Inside Mount
To Find Width: Measure opening across top where the headrail is to be installed from inside of jamb on the left to the inside of the jamb on the right. Round measurement down to the nearest 1/8".
To Find Length: Measure from top of the opening on the left, then measure from the top of the opening in the center and from the top of the opening on the right. Round the measurements down to the nearest 1/8" and note the smallest of the three dimensions.

Outside Mount
To Find Width: Measure the width of the area to be covered at the place where the headrail will be mounted to the nearest 18". Blind should overlap window opening by at least 4" on each side to ensure privacy.
To Find Length: Measure the length of the area to be covered, round down to the nearest 1/8". Blind should extend at least 3" above and 3" below the window opening or molding.

Draperies

Drapery Length:
If ceiling to floor: measure from top of rod to the floor or the carpet. We strongly suggest that the measurements be taken on each side (right and left) and in the center. If to sill length: measure at least 4" above the window to 4" below the sill. Under draperies should be at least 1/2" shorter that the over drapery.
Drapery Width: Measure width of drapery rod from end to end. Add an extra 12" to include the allowance for the traverse rod returns and overlaps. Standard returns are 3". If two rods are to be used (1 for under curtains and 1 for over draperies) allow 6" returns on the over draperies.
